USA - the Northeast

July 2010

12 Days in the USA, more specifically NYC, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. A trip down memory lane for Edo, taking Vie to his old University in Indiana Pa where he spent 2 semesters in the early 80s. We also revisited the magnificent Frank Lloyd Wright house 'Falling Water' just south of Pittsburgh, and traveled east to Hans & Toyoko's former homes and neighborhoods in Connecticut and New York City.

For a road trip like this, you need a proper set of wheels...

Arrived at Bear Run to see Fallingwater
Fallingwater is one of Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpieces
Edo has always been a big fan of this house and he visited it for the first time back in 1982 with his former art teacher Bob Slenker
Since Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater opened to the public in 1964, more than five million visitors have experienced this architectural masterwork.
The Kaufmanns - a prominent Pittsburgh family known for their distinctive sense of style and taste - commissioned Wright to build this house in December 1934
The Kaufmanns’ love for Bear Run’s rushing waterfalls inspired Wright to imagine a residence cantilevered directly over them.
Echoing a natural pattern established by its neighbouring rock ledges, Wright positioned the house over the falls in a stacked grouping of cantilevered concrete
Bye Fallingwater, hope to see you once more in our lifetime!
